I wanted to share with my thoughts on how to save money on everything. This topic is so broad that there are so many ideas on saving money. If you are one of those people that are trying to improve their financial situation, this is for you. Saving money is really the best way to improve your life and increase your happiness in the long run.
Some might say that you cannot save money on everything because there are expenses that have fixed amounts. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have a discount to save money when you buy something.
Keep on reading and try to understand my point. And I hope that at the end of this post, we will be on the same page and hopefully here something from you.
How to save money on everything
First is to ask yourself if you really need the item you are about to buy.
If your setup is work from home, is buying a brand new laptop a must for you to accomplish your work? Or a second hand laptop would do? Well, this is going to be depend on your need. A second hand laptop is cheaper but it can only do so much because of low specifications.
If your work do not require high specifications of laptop, then a second hand unit might deliver it. But if your work requires a high definition, fast processor and high quality laptop specifications, then a brand new unit is advisable. You can save money on everything by assessing your needs for it.
Next is to decide your budget on it.
Let us just stick to the laptop example. Even if you need a high quality brand new laptop but you do not have enough money to buy it, then pull yourself together and review your options. Do you have a budget for it? Or simply put, can you afford it?
You can delay your purchase while you are saving up money for it. Or use your credit card to buy it. But since you are here in a saving money blog, I would not advise doing it if you cannot pay it in full when the credit card bill arrives.
There is another way for it though.
Try looking for a store that offers an installment payment. But of course, you might pay more in the long run and it might interrupt your cash flow.
But if the laptop you are going to buy can generate you some money to cover for the additional expenses, then I think it is a good idea to push through. This way, you will not only save money on everything but it can help with increasing your cash flow.
Another thing to do to save money on everything is to stick to your decision and make use of it appropriately.
If you decided that the brand new laptop is for your work, then do not use it excessively on watching movies or gaming. Why did I say so? Because usage of a device makes it vulnerable to damage. You don’t want your new device to catch a virus or overheat or get hardware malfunction so soon.
Yes, there is a warranty period for your new laptop but you will waste your time going to the store just to claim this. And what if you decided to go for second hand unit? Most of this do not have a very long warranty period. You wouldn’t know when your unit might breakdown.
Determine your purpose
There is no better way to save money on everything by sticking to your purpose. Do not get your sight off of it. Because you already decided on this in the first place. Use it appropriately according to your needs and the purpose. I strongly advise to only buy something that you really need.
Does it bring you happiness?
Setting aside the laptop logic, ask yourself every time you want to buy something if it will bring you or to your loved one’s happiness. I think this is an important thing to consider. If it brings happiness to your life for a long period of time, then I think it is good.
But of course, do not just go shopping and buying all of the good stuff that you see. Unless you are really rich and you do not care to save money. But since you are reading posts like this, it is safe for me to assume that you want to learn to save money on everything.
Final thoughts
How to save money on everything is a broad topic and sometimes hard to follow. But if you consider the need, the budget, the use appropriately and according to its purpose, and the happiness an item can bring, you can definitely achieve it.
